Yoko Naito www.yokonaito.com I was born in a small village in Fukuoka where my grandparents' house is and grew up in Tokyo area where my parents' house is. The experience of the gap between rural and urban life has had a significant effect on me. My interest is the correlations of nature, humans, animals and their artifacts in the different environment. The juxtapositions with a different kind defines the significance of existence between each other. These contrasts indicate the sharing of space in one universe. My project describes some sympathies and similarities in the different environments. Yoko Naito was born in Japan. She has graduated from Nihon University College of Art in Photography Department in Tokyo Japan in 2007. She moved to New York in 2009 until 2015. Currently, based in Berlin for the Artist in Residence Program. She received 3rd Prize in “Travel” and Nominated in “Lifestyle” in the Professional category of the Sony World Photography Award 2015. Also, she was selected by the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts for Young Portfolio award in 2014 & 2015. Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe and Japan.
misaki matsui+//from the white room. misaki matsui[we are the universe] We are small, but we are the universe You have worries, so release them to the universe misaki matsui / photographer + film director She was born in Kobe, Japan. Her theme “no moment without hope”is found throughout her films, photos of landscape and portraiture, and installation projects. Her mission is to remind people that they can still have hope. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. www.misakimatsui.com - no moment without hope - //from the white room.[White Story ] This is the photo book with music CD. They were inspired by the images that “whiteness", and convey the message of hope, “back to whiteness” through photos, music, and quotes. "//from the white room.” is a collaboration project between jun ando (Koto - Japanese harp player / composer) and misaki matsui (cinematographer / photographer). They were inspired by the images that “whiteness" has - simple, pure, refresh, restart and reborn - and convey the message of hope, “back to whiteness” through videos, photos, music, and quotes.
Yuko K. www.peintureyuko.com I believe the existence of any artist’s sense of view must be reflected by the memories of their experiences. To me, the method of taking photographs and videos symbolize the importance of time. Suspending the equal value for both passing time and present time, gives me a diverse creator’s awareness and ability to recall memories of past experiences I had almost lost in the transforming, changing figure. After I graduated art university in Japan, I began working as a freelance illustrator and painting instructor along with my fine art painting and later moved to New York City. Currently I am living in NYC and work with various materials in painting, printmaking, illustration, mixed media, photographs and videos for the methodology of contemporary art.
Yoko Haraoka www.yokoharaoka.com Yoko Haraoka has been mostly concentrating on self-portrait projects with an emphasis on humor after experiencing a variety of photography fields. Exploring this direction has led to numerous exciting and dynamic series that showcase her playful and artistic outlook on life. Yoko Haraoka was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She moved to the U.S. in 2005 and attended New England School of Photography in Boston to pursue a career in photography. She has won an award at the Asian Creative Awards in 2015 and her works have been shown in such places as New York, Philadelphia, Vermont, and Budapest. She currently lives in New York City.
kiriko Shirobayashi www.kirikoshirobayashi.com My works contain complex meanings not only by their direct transmissions but also their reminiscences. The corners of our minds, which conceal what we carry underneath our consciousness and unconsciousness, are of supreme interest to me. My work is not necessarily intended to direct anyone in any direction, but more to illuminate aspects of our existence and encourage the viewer to develop their own concept. It is by this method, I believe, that art cultivates understanding and exhibits its own inherent value. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, I moved to the United States going on to graduate from the School of Visual Arts with a MFA in Photography and Related Media. I have been exhibiting my work including Allentown Art Museum, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, the Houston Center for Photography, Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, Onoma Center, Finland, the 5th Pingyao International Festival and the National Museum of Belarus. I have received awards from GEN ART, LMCC and Photography 21 and have completed residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Headlands Center for the Arts, and Santa Fe Art Institute.
Neo Yuki www.yukineo.com My camera taught me I need to stop and take a breath. Then I noticed little flowers blooming at my feet. Each has its own beauty and was blooming as if it was living its fragile life at its best. That was the moment I realized that it‘s ok to be “me”. How long did I battle with myself to become someone else? How many beautiful things did I pass by that were all meaningful to me? I've decided not to be afraid of being myself. I will live myself wholeheartedly in every moment. I photograph the moments to which my true heart reacts spontaneously. I capture them as the precious encounters that I crisscrossed and coincidentally shared the same time and space. I hope my work gives you a moment to stop, take a breath and be yourself. Yuki Neo is a New York-based photographer. She was born in Takamatsu, Japan, and studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York City. She holds an M.S. in Advertising from Northwestern University, and formerly worked in advertising in both the U.S. and Japan.
